Christmas isn't just for robins

Robins aren't the only birds that are around during winter. These photos show just some of the birds that visit our bird table, feeders and bird baths through winter. Supplying a variety of food types in different types of feeders and always ensuring a plentiful supply of water will encourage a range of birds to become regular visitors.

Why not feature one of these birds in your Christmas cards or even use the images to create a personal card for some other type of occasion.

Or you may prefer to add your own personal greeting to one of these ready made cards

Wintry scenes

These wintry scenes were taken from the car as we  drove along the M1 motorway between Wakefield and Leeds. The land alongside the motorway on this stretch is mainly agricultural. Cutting through the rhubarb triangle, during the growing season crops of rhubarb can be seen in the fields. The long low windowless buildings are rhubarb forcing shed.

Any one of these images would make an ideal Christmas card. To try creating your own personalised card using any of these images - click ion the Create button beneath your chosen image.

If you wish to use an image as a basis for a wall art design then clcik on the wall art link.

The scene above seemed to lend itself to the addition of a sepia wash.

Hoar Frost

When I was working, my journey to work involved driving down a few country lanes. I loved watching the changes as the seasons moved along. On one particular morning, in February 2008, I just couldn't resist stopping the car to take these photos. There had been a hoar frost and the trees looked beautiful. The location was Intake Lane near Woolley in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Even though the photos were taken in February they created a 'Christmassy' feel and so I used the images to create a couple of Christmas cards.

Both cards can be personalised

Robins

These are just two of my images that are available for use in products from CreateToday. Everyone loves robins so they are ideal subjects to use when making your own personal Christmas cards. Click on an image to go straight to an image on their website where you can use it for your own creations. We regularly have robins visit our bird table and they seem only too willing to pose for photographs. This year we also had longs of young robins which we enjoyed watching gradually developing their adult red breasts.
